Ann Evers : Desert Fibre Art
Ann Evers lives on the edge of Broken Hill in an old stone house surrounded by a much loved native and cottage garden.
She brings to her work a long time interest in the natural and man made environment of the West Darling region. Ann uses local native plants as well as introduced plants … the palms, pepper trees and cedar trees that are in most old gardens of Broken Hill.
Bones, rust and broken china among other found objects add stories to her baskets and vessels that delve into the history and pre history of this region.
Ann’s baskets make use of her own handmade paper and string as well as homespun wool and home cooked dyes.
