Outback Dreamscapes plays into the theatricality of the photograph.

Early travel stereographs idealised the monumental structures of the changing world, while colonial landscape painting sought to capture the sublimity of far-off horizons.

The terrace is a duplicated structure of the industrial age in Australian cities, at once imposing and out of place against the unblemished natural backdrops. Presented as mere facades which highlight the absurdity of contrast, does the juxtaposition point out a utopian vision of unity between two extremes, or a gothic realisation of the inevitable displacement of culture and supremacy of nature?
