Join National Gallery artist educators for a full-day professional learning program at Broken Hill City Art Gallery.

This professional development session will introduce creative learning strategies for engaging with works from the national collection, focusing on Dance series transformation 4 [armbands] (2007) by Janet Fieldhouse (Kalaw Lagaw Ya/Meriam Mir peoples).

With a First Nations focus, the program will share Art Through Culture - the National Gallery’s learning approach to First Nations art. Participants will be invited to reflect on their current practice and develop strategies to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and knowledge into their teaching and learning spaces.

Who Should Attend

This session is open to early learning, primary, secondary, and tertiary educators, as well as other youth and arts professionals.

What to Expect

Throughout the day, National Gallery artist educators will share their approaches to engaging with works of art through creative and inquiry-based strategies. This approach supports learners to build personal connections with art, share stories and ideas, and deepen their understanding of cultural contexts.
