Join us at the Gallery from Sunday 5 July to Sunday 19 July for a creative line-up of hands-on workshops and activities for children and young people of all ages!

 

Which Artwork Doesn't Belong? | Daily

The Curious Case of the Missing Artwork

Running 10:00 am – 4:00 pm daily during school holidays

  • Ages: All ages
  • Cost: FREE
  • Location: Inside Gallery

Think you've got a good eye for detail? Pick up your Gallery Challenge Sheet from the front desk and become a Gallery Detective! You'll be given pictures of six artworks. Five are hanging in the Gallery... but one doesn't belong!

Explore the exhibitions, compare each artwork and work out which one is missing from the Gallery. Once you've solved the mystery, return your completed challenge sheet to the front desk. If you've cracked the case, you'll receive a special prize!

A fun self-guided activity for the whole family that encourages careful observation and exploration of the Gallery. Suitable for all ages FREE • No bookings required • Available during Gallery opening hours throughout the school holidays

Clay Basket Weaving | Tuesday 7 July & Thursday 16 July

Clay Basket Weaving

  • 2:00pm – 3:30pm, Tuesday 7 July & Thursday 16 July
  •  All Ages welcome (Including families)

Create your own one-of-a-kind woven basket using air-dry clay and natural raffia.

Participants will sculpt a decorative clay base before learning simple weaving techniques to build the basket walls.
Add patterns, textures and your own creative touches to make a unique functional artwork to take home.

A fun introduction to sculpture and weaving that's perfect for all ages.

School Holiday Songwriting Workshops Presented by The House That Dan Built

  • For young people aged 10–24

    Whether you're an aspiring singer, songwriter, musician or simply love music, these workshops are a fantastic opportunity to explore your creativity in a fun and supportive environment.

    Open to boys and girls aged 10–24, participants will work alongside experienced music mentors from The House That Dan Built to explore songwriting, lyric writing, melody, performance and collaboration. Throughout the week, participants will develop their musical skills, build confidence and work with other young creatives to write and perform original songs. No previous songwriting experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm and a love of music! Please refer to The House That Dan Built for session times, age groups and booking information.

Kids Session

Lights, camera... action! Learn how your favourite animated movies are made by creating your own stop motion film using Procreate. Young animators will choose from a range of miniature sets, create characters, learn the basics of animation and discover how tiny movements become smooth, moving pictures. At the end of the workshop, everyone will take home their very own animated movie.

  • Ages 13+ (including adults)

    Take your animation skills to the next level in this hands-on workshop with professional animator Jarrod Prince. Participants will learn the principles of realistic movement, timing and storytelling while creating stop motion animations using handmade clay characters and Procreate. Discover how professional stop motion films are created and produce your own short animation to take home. Suitable for beginners through to aspiring animators and digital artists.

Character Sculpture Workshop

Friday 17 July

    Get creative with wire, foil, tape and paint to build your own unique sculpture!

    Participants will learn simple sculptural techniques as they twist, shape and construct imaginative creations, from quirky animals and colourful creatures to people, robots or abstract designs. Once the structure is complete, you'll add layers of foil, masking tape and paint to bring your sculpture to life. Every participant will take home a one-of-a-kind artwork that's full of personality. Suitable for beginners and fun for the whole family.
