In celebration of Gray Street Workshop’s 40th anniversary, JamFactory presents Beautiful Tensions, a major touring exhibition showcasing new work by the workshop’s four current partners: Jess Dare, Lisa Furno, Sue Lorraine and Catherine Truman.

Founded in 1985, Gray Street Workshop is one of Australia’s longest-running collectively run studios for contemporary jewellery and object making. Over four decades, it has played a vital role in shaping South Australia’s visual arts landscape, supporting the development of more than 100 artists nationally and internationally.

Beautiful Tensions brings together four distinct yet connected bodies of work, united by shared concerns around environment, memory, mourning and the power of making. Witty, playful and poignant, the exhibition reflects the workshop’s collaborative ethos of working ‘separately together’.
